Paddles are as old as the canoe and they can be as simple as a flattened off stick or as carved and intricate as some of the indiginous ornamental paddles. In this 2 day class you will go from a roughed out paddle shape of your choosing to a completed or nearly completed paddle. Two traditional shapes are offered, Beaver tail or Otter tail and during registration we will ask your height and intended use and have a custom paddle roughed out for you upon arrival for the class. Over the next 2 days we will shape the paddles, tell stories and practice with hand tools as you learn to efficiently remove material and craft a beautiful, functional custom paddle!
