Remembering Earthways March 2024 winter camp on the eve of an April snowstorm here in Maine. The snow was deep, and the ice was smooth on the little pond, with a fine layer of water on top.
Our youngest crew member was excited to help haul water from the hole in the ice to boil for cooking and washing up. We had a wonderful crew, who were excited to learn winter camping skills, and shared many songs, stories, and laughs. Nothing more comforting after a day of trekking, learning with Ray and Pat, and setting up camp than sharing delicious home cooked meals together in the cozy wall tent.
Thanks to Chris and Ashirah at Maine Outdoor Living School in Temple for working with us to find a great spot for this year's expedition, and for sending over Nick to help out around camp and hauling the toboggan. May your snowy times be as full of warmth and community!
